MAGNETISM

They may be cute, and you may be proud of them. But those special masterpieces the kids hang on the refrigerator could be causing your refrigerator to go on the blink.

According to refrigerator repairmen, papers that fall from under weak magnets and then slip under the 'frig' are the leading cause of refrigerator breakdown.

So Adams Manufacturing has come out with stonger magnets. The Magnet Man, which is built with a clamp, and the nose man, a round face with a big nose, are designed to make pulling off papers easier.

Look for the Adams magnets wherever kitchen supplies are sold.

VIDEO MUPPETS

Now you can invite those lovable little guys into your home and pop them in your VCR. Fraggle Rock, featuring Jim Henson's Muppets, will be released on videocassette at the end of this month.

In addition, Jim Henson Video is offering consumers two free Fraggle Rock children's books with the purchase of the videocassettes. Look for the four- volume series where children's videos are sold.

NEW GOLF PASS

It's tee time. Golf enthusiasts now have the opportunity to save money on their favorite sport while raising valuable funds for the Indiana Division of the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society is offering a Golf Pass good for over 100 rounds of golf at 50 courses around the state. This pass, valued at $1,000 in waived green fees, is available for a $25 donation and can be used throughout 1993.

BUG THOSE BUGS

It's everybody's favorite season for bugs and if there is one thing you want to do, it's protect the kids. Why not just tell the insects to skedaddle! Developed by a Massachusetts father and technology transfer expert, Skedaddle is the newest answer to bug bite protection for kids.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that only products with 10% Deet (an active ingredient in insect repellent) or less be used on children. According to Consumer Reports, Skedaddle was formulated with 6.5% Deet and has been proven effective.

Look for Skedaddle in your local drug or grocery store.

PET PROTECTION

Pet owners who have been losing sleep wondering whether or not their pet will wander off into the night, worry no more. The National Pet Protection Network (NPPN) is here to save the day.

This new service is a 24-hour toll free pet protection and recovery service designed to help keep pets safe. It aids in recovering them if they are lost, stolen, or injured anywhere in the USA or Canada.

Under the NPPN plan, full information about the pet and its owner is stored on an informational computer database under the pet's assigned personal security identification number. The pet receives a brightly colored identification plate which is attached to its collar. The plate contains the pet's security code, the NPPN 24-hour toll free telephone number, and a message offering a reward for calling the toll free number.

Anyone finding the lost pet can call the NPPN toll-free number. NPPN will then contact the owner and arrange for prompt recovery of the pet.

Pet owners who would like to know more about the NPPN can call to get more information at (812) 234-2124 or write: P.O. Box 3309, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
