I DON'T understand football at all, But this man, goal in mind, could kick a ball.
Young in years, a genius to this sport, A life of alcoholism he fought. A legend, gave delight to thousands, For all to see, came to the ground as fans.
No 7, a goal fans would expect, That shirt of his demanded respect. Blue twinkling eyes, a smile s o bright, George seemed to bring joy, a white shining light.
The game football, a hero he'll remain.
George, the pitch will never be the same. So rest in peace beside your mother, I guess there will never be another.
Those blue eyes that now lie behind closed lids, You are now an inspiration to all kids
